I see on forums all over the internet not just for solid edge but for other design software also people convert there parts into Visual basics and say it is used to change a part file into a text file, what is confusing me is...what is the point? why do you convert to visual basics? can you design a part or edit a part in visual basics? also, would a design engineer require to have knowledge about visual basics?

??? Can you post some links to some of those forums?

Some people use VB macros to create their models, or parts of them, but I'm not familiar with converting models to VB. It is not a standard "Save as" or import/export format in SolidWorks.

Are you getting confused with Parasolid text files (.x_t) - a neutral format that most CAD systems can read and used for converting between CAD systems?
Maybe they are using VB to convert a cad file into a Parasolid x_t.
I've never seen anything about converting to VB.
VB isn't a format you can convert SE files into either, and I've never seen it on any other CAD system.
