I am asked to design a packing column, but no one gives information about when i must redistribute liquid, which is the maximum weight the elemnts suport...
You can let the packing manufacturers help with that. Packing height has to do with the strength of the packing (fragile packing can't withstand the compression). Redistribution is also used to introduce intermediate reflux streams or after intermediate product draws.
