When treatment plants go bad.

"The Plant has significantly improved water quality in Dublin Bay through its unique system of turning the capital's sewage into water, fertiliser and electricity."

Odor control problems aren't all that unusual at treatment plans. The problem can be dealt with and alleviated. Your statement that the plant does not work is a little premature.

Perhaps you right. I should have added "yet".

But how long those it take to get it right. I understand the contractor has long since passed the commissioning stage and has still not fully handed it over.

The city now wants to increase its size again by 30% just a few years after finishing it.
Didn't they see the expansion in the city coming or is it just very bad planning on the part of Dublin city.

The article says nothing about the plant not working! Foul odors can occur at any plant, working or not. Many plants "smell" bad and work just fine. How close is this plant to a near by community? The nose is a very fine thing, not duplicated by any machine. People can complain about odors not associated with the plant, just knowing it is there.

There has been reports of foul odor's as far away as five miles from plant. These reports are wide spread and notlocalized to any one area.

Your right about people apportioning blame to something that they perceive to cause it, but it those not look like it in this case.

I disagree. Odors can travel very far from a treatment plant. Wind speed and direction play a significant role in carrying them. This still does not mean that the plant is not performing well. Thw two are not always related.
