what kind of process can cause this failure in EN process?

You don't give us much to go on. Without further details/photos/SEM shots, all I can offer is that the area is question is a fatigue crack. Kind of hard to tell if it started from a corrosion pit or some other feature. What are the details of the failure? What is the material?
