External piping between tanker truck standpipe connection and 1 million gallon AST include the fill pump and a vertical tank (circa 200 gallons) on the dicharge side of the pump. Piping from this 200 gallon tank is then directed to the 1 million gallon AST.
A similar smaller tank(circa 75 gallons) is also installed on a second line between the AST and the loading rack.
These two small tanks are well built by the appearance of their welded joints but have no namplates.
This bulk storage installation and loading rack are about 40 years old. It was purported that these two small tanks act as dewatering/dearation tanks which I agreed to some degree. It seems to me on the other end that the atmospheric vent and condensate valves on the 1 million gallon tank would be enough.
So are these two small tanks truly designed for their purported functions??
