what is the minimun distance into the concrete for a brige pile (the pile a HP section)?

Does the agency you're working for have any requirements? As SRE said, 6" minimum is common but agencies have exceptions to the rule of thumb. For example, with NYSDOT the embedment can be anywhere fro 6" to 2'. A few thoughts...do you need to slope the abutment stem? That's a pain the @$$ to form. Flying wingwalls are typically tied to the abutment stem and not the footing.
