Hi all,

what are the recommended drilling parameters ( cutting speed and feed rates ) for drilling GLARE material.

can I use similar drilling parameters used for Al2024 , any suggestions ?

I have no experience in this particular material but it contains glass fibers which are extremely abrasive. I believe you will find that HSS drills will not be able to cut this material effectively. Carbide tipped drills will probably need to be used.

Try cutting some samples before you go into production if possible.

hi Bill,

thanks for the reply, I am doing a research and I want to cover as much as possible of the drilling parameters but I don't want to use any random cutting speeds and feed rates , I prefer to have a more realistic combinations of cutting speeds and feeds.

Regards

Look at drills made for working on printed circuit boards.

You are judged not by what you know, but by what you can do.
