Weldments - Configurations and Cut Lists

I occasionally create cut lists on drawings for weldment parts with multiple configurations. I've noticed that the cut list doesn't work well across configurations--if weldment properties are attached to a body, and that body is changed via configurations (for example, holes are either on or off) it doesn't recognize the difference, and won't let you apply different weldment properties in each configuration. Did that make sense? Have any of you experienced this? If so, is this just the way it is, or is there a different way of handling cut lists in configurations?

Thanks!

From my experience this is just the way it is. You may be able to change material size but not material type (hot rolled plate to hot rolled flat). Not sure why holes on and off should make a difference unless they are part of the as weleded configuration. We now shy away from multiple configurations on weldments just for these reasons. However, I would imagine that if one spent some time to figure out what the limitations are, you could get it to work within those limits. This really looks like it is an enhancement request to me.

We too had some quircky-ness in the past, so now we only assign properties to Cutlist Items while in the "Welded" configuration. We have had no problems since then.

Ken,

That is a good practice considering that the name and number of cut list items can change between the <as machined> and <as welded> configurations. I have found that this creates some confusion with some users.
