Can we weld diiferent outer diameter pipes
pipes od = 1018
connecting pipe = 1016 ?

What is ID and is it different??

That sort of difference is easily taken up with the weld.

depends on your code, but e.g. B 31.4 has figures 434.8.6-2 for unequal wall thicknesses

My goodness, o.d’s. of 1018 and 1016mm on to mating pipes? That’s probably within the manufacturing tolerance of that size pipe, and 1mm on each side should be within the fit-up tolerance for the welding of that size pipe. LittleInch is right, you also have to consider the relative thicknesses of the two pipes in this discussion, but otherwise, you just fair the two surfaces together during the welding process. Maybe a little grinding is involved too, to make a clean, smooth transition.
