Hi Guys,
I'm doing a design/redesign of some cleat plates and currently working through calculating the section capacity in bending. I've stated a couple of assumptions, you can see the snap shot of my situation below. Please advise whether it is OK to assume the plate would bend in double curvature? As this would decrease the ultimate moment drastically.
I've been completing some designs in the past using this assumption. But I have a feeling this assumption can only be used in situations where prying action is occuring i.e. I beam connection or base plate.
Thank you!
