Hi All:

Looking for reasonably weldable, hard stainless for mixer blades. Considered 440C for hardness but weldablility is questionable. 17-4 may be the choice....but trying to get away from post-weld heat treating.

Any suggestions?

430?
17-4?

The post weld aging treatment is why 17-4 or 17-7 would be a good option. You could work from annealed material, weld and then age.

How hard of a material do you need? There are always the duplex grades.
