I would have liked to reopen the thread itself but since this didn't seem to be an option I started a new one. I can see the logic behind everything clearly explained by Rick in this post (thread727-369394) but must be missing something because it is unclear how the methodology described is different from just probing the reaction forces and moments for the named selections and requesting them with respect to a local coordinate system.
Regarding the node by node approach I was wondering if someone could expand on it a bit more since it seems to be the approach underpining the Verity method. The probes wouldn't work in this case since you would just get average values for the weld sim. How could the prevoius method be adapted to get stresses on a node by node basis?
