working on project where specification calls for a multi-media filter system to be used for domestic water supply.

The vender is requesting to replace the multi-media filter with disc filter . can we us disc filters in domestic water system directly and with what configurations.

I assume you are going to use Diatomaceous Earth with these disk filters. What are the flow rates? Water quality....tell us as much as you can...

If he is using diatomaceous earth as the filter aid, it will be a costly system to operate!

Check with your local regulators. Depending on the specifications of the filter, performance testing, selection of filter aids, and previous approvals you might be able to get away with it. In domestic water, getting any (perceived) new technology approved for use in a system can be a real headache.
