Water evaporation plant cost

Hi

I would like to know how much it would cost to erect a water evap plant ($/tpd) - rough estimate. An approximate process description would be helpful.

Even for a rough estimate, you'll need to have an idea of the size (I assume you are talking about desalinating sea water).

RO and flash evaporators are commonly used in this service but for large production rates, multiple flash is commonly used though energy costs is a major factor in the selection.

The only cost I have is for a smallish RO plant, don't think that is what you are looking for.

The problem with saving all this stuff is first remembering it and then finding it.

Chemical Engineering Progress in December 2002 had an article (page 32) on the economics of desalination and they had quite a bit of data on sizes of different units, capital and operating costs.

100 m3/day is $2.37 per m3

4000 m3/day is $1.98 per m3
4546 m3/day is $1.29 per m3

There were 4 data points for 20,000 m3/day units: 0.64, 0.76, 1.22 and 0.58 $/m3 (quite a range). No information as to why one at 1.22 was that much higher.

These costs include direct capital, indirect capital (freight and insurance, construction overhead, owner's cost and contingency) and operating costs.
