We use direct pressure acting water regulating valves to open a path to a brazed plate heat exchanger. The refrigerant type in the AC circuit is R22 and is water not glycol cooled. We have ran into an issue where if the water temperature goes below 60-65F that the AC shuts down on high head (375psig). Just by bringing up the water temperature the same circuit will run just fine.
I believe that this may have something to do with the opening of the valve and the instantaneous pressure drop across the valve, but not 100% exactly what is going on. You would think that the colder the water the better it would work, not the case. Has anyone else run into a similar issue or any suggestions/comments would be appreciated.
