Vertical motor grounding

Is there any reason why you would not ground a pump motor??

I have seen many water pump installations, from several to hundreds HP, and all of them had pump motor grounding.

Grunding of motors is required by the Electrical code and don't know of a rule that exemps vertical mounted motors ,pumps or others, from this rule. GusD
