I am looking for some advice on guiding a vertical cold insulated line that is guided from a vessel. The existing guide has a 2" gap all around and is guided from the OD of the insulation. There is a sleeve on the insulation.
My problem is that the line has two-phase flow and vibrates excessively at the guide (2"). The guide needs to have a tight fit. I would like to reduce the gap to zero and still allow the line move vertically in the guide.
As a temporary fix, pieces of 2 X 4 wood have been wedged into the gap and it has completely solved the vibration problem.
If anyone knows of a way to permanantly solve this problem or knows of a pre-engineered guide that could be used, I would greatly appreciate it.
