I'm looking for a non contact level sensor for use in a container that has a range of 0.5-6 inches from the sensor. The material is a clear liquid and has chemical compatibility issues, but even without considering that I haven't found anything acceptable. I have looked at a couple ultrasonics but they haven't met my dead band criteria.
Can anyone help me out with a manufacturer to look at?
Thanks.

Any other constraints? What about an optical device mounted through the vessel wall, e.g. for example?

I'm looking for something with an analog output. But thanks for the link, being in Canada I completely forget about RS sometimes.

I know you said non contact but have you considered a teflon covered capacitance type. You could use a fat probe to maximize on capacitance change.
I think radar might work also, I believe the dead zone is much shorter than ultrasonic.

Roy

dp cells always work. Radiation-Based Level Gages are available too

How about weigh cells?

Being in Canada have you looked at the Siemens / Milltronics Radar?
