I am trying to establish the maximum point load for a 1m x 3m slab in a pavement outside a shop. A lorry could park on the slab. I have been told the point load should be 75kN but I cannot find any evidence to support the claim.

Has any one any code references that I may refer too, please?

I'm in the US, so your codes are not familiar to me; however, in the US, that is not defined by code. It is based on the expected vehicle wheel or axle loads and the repetition (load cycles) of such.

The attached is an excerpt from the Alberta Building Code 2006 which corresponds to the National Building Code respecting this provision. Note (1) refers to Appendix A which states that for vehicles over 9000 kg, special provisions may be required as provided in the Canadian Bridge Code. I am not sure what that might entail.

Have you considered AASHTO live loads such as H-2, HS-20, etc? you can do a search in eng-tips and get what you look for.

Are you in the UK? If so, the relevant criteria is probably the HA accidental wheel load. Is is a (characteristic) 100kN load applied over an area of 0.3m x 0.3m.

Have a look at BD37/01 in the DMRB.

I am trying to access a reinforced concrete pavement-light spanning 1400mm. Would this be classed as a bridge?

I would suggest that you use the bridge design code to asess the loads, but other than that I would treat it as a regular concrete member(with holes of course).
