This is not directly related to an API code issue but rather to Australian Standard AS1940; Storage and Handling of Combustible and Flammable Liquids. I trust this post is appropriate here.
Relating to filling from a tank vehicle; Clause 5.3.2 (c) states; 'the fill point for any tank containing a flammable liquid shall be in the open air at least 2 metres from any opening into a building and at least 3 m from any ignition source'.
The question; are rear lights on a tanker truck classed as an ignition source? If yes, how is the issue normally resolved (assuming its an API issue also).
Another query I would like opinions on is this; The local regulations state that diesel must be classed as a flammable liquid. We wish to mix the diesel with used automotive lubrication oil; when can it be classed as a combustible liquid (if ever)?
