Hi all,
I have a model in Abaqus with a 10 meter diameter cylindrical shell element (32 meters long), which I wanted to model with a thickness of 0.30 meters at the base and 0.15 meters at the top.

Could anyone tell me how I can do this? I think it's through the expression field but I'm not getting it.

Best regards

In Abaqus, variable shell thickness can be defined either on an elemental or nodal basis, using a discrete or analytical field.

Check the following thread with a short discussion on this topic:

Apart from that, you can find the details and examples in the documentation.

Thank you for your reply. What do you refer to as the documentation ?

Abaqus documentation, available online on the Dassault Systemes website (you will need an account there to access it). Once you get there, search for variable shell thickness and you will find relevant information in several different chapters.
