Hello,

tryng to set up a test bench that is easy to use, is there a commercially available coupler that I can use on 2"npt thread (internal and external) for my hydro shell test at 7500psi and a gas closure test at 80-100psi? We are introducing a low cost ball valve, have very tight margins, but of course need to follow the testing laid out in b16.34 and api598. trying to reduce labour costs by having an easy "drop and clamp" in place for testing that would not invalidate the tests.

thanks in advance

Having worked in the fittings and valve industry I never seen any testing setup for anything under 6" that used anything other that a pneumatic or hydraulic clamping device where testing fluid was introduced through one of the seating pads.
I can understand where you are coming from with the 750 psig test requirement Thread make up is going to be a bear if you are using NPT threads in a make and break situation.

Are you talking about large quantities of valves testing each one?

What is the MOC of the valve?

Could you comeback with your exact procedure would be?

We need to test each valve, and for the local regulating body only the shell test of 150% of working pressure is needed. but to test to ap598 we need a closure test to both sides of the ball valve. 0 leakage for both tests. I'm not sure what you mean "MOC". Our quantities will be quite small, however we try to make the most our labour dollars, as much as possible.

do you have a brand name or website for the clamping devices you wrote about?

thanks for the link, our MOC is SA-350 for the Body.
