Does an automatic on/off valve need a positioner?
Normally, the actuator shows on or off. Do I need extra positioner?

Normally no. The control system normally just uses limit switches for open / close and in transit.

Normally, the valve actuator will be equipped with a field on-off indicator. But, a digital positioner may be required by the Client and/or Project and used to transmit the signal to the board operation.
