I am reviewing leak test procedures for some of our XXV's.

However I have failed to find a simple procedure for a liquid valve which will allow testing at opportune shutdowns (duration typically 1 - 4 hrs).

I've obtained some leak criteria from API procedures (0.1 and 1 kg/s for corrective action - immediate replacement), but other guides, or the background for these numbers would also be useful.

Look at the API firesafe valve tests and the MMS ball valve tests. You could look into the ASTM helium leak detection methods too.
