A valve vendor is claiming that there is little correlation between the valve body inside contours and the Cv. The valve in question is a globe valve. My instinct says this is incorrect, however would appreciate any expert or experienced insight.

Flow contours really only come into play when you are near full-open, high flow rates. Are you planning to use the valve as a control element in such conditions?

Yes, the valve is a control valve in mid to fully open range.

I don't fully understand their statement, since a more tortuous path will lead to increased losses/less flow, but maybe they're talking in generalities that "x" type of contour doesn't necessarily correlate to higher flow?

If they have open percentage vs Cv I would just go with that unless you have concerns?
