Hi,

Anybody have experience doing ultrasonic A,B or C scan on the glasflake coating (1000 micron) on the riser to determine the internal conidtion of the riser since the IP cannot be performed on schedule due to operation/process problem. if ultrasonic scans are not the option, any other proved inspection methods?

Hope can shed some light....thanks

Calibrate a variable-voltage 'Holiday Detector' like what Tinker & Rasor sell to spark at the thinnest coating of glass that you consider acceptable. The wand on a Holiday Detector is fairly broad, so 100% coverage can be achieved rapidly.

UT for those thicknesses will require a very small transducer, so that obtaining even 10% coverage will be very timeconsuming.

Eddy current might be an option.
