Using Profile "All Over" 3

When using the "All Over" specification with a profile tolerance, can it be restricted to a designated area of the part using boundaries? Or does the "All Over" have to apply to the entire part?

This is how I see it: if you question it, someone else will too, regardless of the call-out if you use "All Over".
Try to be as detailed as you can to the specific area you want. Then have someone else look at it, if it's clear to them, you have it.

Agreed with ctopher.
IMO, if a spec or detail were used in the restricted and designated area, it isn't a Spec to be applied for "All Over" the entire part any more.

In general, "All-over" applies to entire surface.
If you want to add some restrictions, you must specify them on your drawing:

"For every expert there is an equal and opposite expert"

Alternately, you could utilize the "between" notation, and entirely omitting the "all-over" or "all-around" symbol. This could get cumbersome if the part geometry is very complex or there are many different sections which need this between notation, but it is useful in many instances.

To add to the discussion beyond your original question, which is answered above...

There is also the practice of using "All over unless otherwise specified." An example would be a complex surfaced part that has a hole pattern that has its own feature control frame.
