Pump suction header, welded end caps are specified, (10" & 12" steel pipe) when modifying potable water pump station. Removing dead legs on header piping where abandoned pumps were removed, the use of Roust-a-bout couplings were suggested. Has anyone had any experience with these? Pump station working pressure ranges from 90-120 psi. The items I have review are UL and NSF 61 approved, eliminates all welding almost and all the components have a solid pedigree with reference to material spec's. I have not used them, preferring welded fittings & flanged connections in pump stations. I'm finding it hard to change my ways. Is there a downside to using them?
