use of layers to control datums in assemblies

I try to put each parts datums plane on independant layer to control a complex assemblies. But i don't whant to affect the parts files itself...is there any suggestion?

What is your objective? Are you trying to turn specific datums off in the assembly and not others? I think there is a solution, but I would like to know more about the scenario.
