In task pane, I open file explorer and find a 2d file from my work directory and double click. I get the "open with" box. Then I choose dwgeditor and get this info...
This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create and assoc. in the Folder Options control panel [\quote]
As I mentioned, I have already set up the association.

Have you opened DWGEditor FIRST and then tried opening from there??
I'm trying to find out if it can open at all.

It's certainly a bug. Same happens here. Double click on the file does not start DWGeditor.

You must open the file inside DWGe or RMC on the file and "Open With...", selecting DWGe.

thanks for the replies
sorry for the long pause, had to take the kid to the dentist.
I am at home, so I can't access v2005 sp3.1 and pdmworks.

ctopher,
I can open dwg's from dwgeditor o.k.
I just think it woulb be convienient to double click from task pane / file explorer.

I first dug into this by opening Windows control panel and changing the association from autocad to dwgeditor for dwg's. (I thought I was on to something good)

I was perplexed hwen it didn't work and wondered if others here had experience with this.

I don't think that the files would open with dwgeditor (rmc method) after I changed the association. I'll have to check Monday morning.

thanks,

O.K.
I think I have this issue solved for now.
I would just rather forget Autocad, but have tons of archeive data that I must deal with.
I have set up file options to open dwg's with Solidworks instead of dwgeditor. This takes you through the dialouge screen where you choose to "edit with dwgeditor"
this is a much cleaner way to access dwg editor and works from the file explorer.

thanks to all
