Dear friends,
The contractor has proposed following note for angle beam UT, it can be accepted??
For UT:
“Reference specimen with circumferential groove of 60 ° "V" or "Square rectangular " notch depth 2% THK(max 6 mm) at inside and outside surface(this is also in line with calibration notch required for weld testing according to Asme Code sect.V art.4).
The acceptance defects criteria will be in accordance to ASME Code PART AM - 203.2 (e)”
For chemical requirements:
“accept inclusion level max 1,5 , but the total sum(4 types of inclusions) should be max 6”

Inclusion rating is not considered a chemical requirement but a metallographic one, possibly performed also with additional methods.
See ASTM E-45, STANDARD TEST METHODS FOR DETERMINING THE INCLUSION CONTENT OF STEEL.
The acceptable level of inclusions depends on the application and should be specified in the material procurement documents.
