Hi,

Can you help me to create Twist Drill model in UGNX.

Thanks in-advance.

What version of NX are you using?

Hi Jhon,

I am using UGNX7.5.

Thanks in-advance.

Well, here's a crude start (see attached), but it should point you in the right direction.

Hi Jhon,
Thanks you for quick response.
And, clear with flute creation. And, I need to make flute relief with parametrically ( see attachment), when ever changing Drill size, Pitch that flute relief will be update automatically. As well as need to maintain that overall flute height until that relief.

Thanks in-advance.

I was just roughing it in as I don't have the detailed specs, only what's shown in the 'Machinery's Handbook'.

Why do you need such a level of detail in the model of a twist drill? For what purpose will this model be used?

Need to create master model and to create child part with associative drafting.

Are you in the business of manufacturing twist-drill bits? If so, it would seem that you've already got the specs that you need to model a drill bit.

I need only in UGNX option to control that shape.

This seems like a lot of work for very little return, particularly if you're not actually manufacturing twist drills. So to what purpose are you going to be putting these Drawings?

It might be best using law curves. I was able to create a single curve that would mimmic the helix of a thread and the imncomplete threads. The equations of the thread are all driven by expressions and update to any size thread without and problems. It also uses less resources then other attemps I have seen.

I wish I knew enough math to give you the equations, but I really don't. It took me a long time to complete my thread model. If you needed a good way to model this sort of thing in NX then that would be the best way to approach it.
