Hello all.

For part of a vehicle drive train model I am working on, I need to get a rough value for the hub-to-road torsional stiffness of a typical small car wheel (something like a Ford Fiesta). I don't need an accurate value; I'm talking order of magnitude here.

Google has failed to yield anything other than info on aircraft landing gear.

Thanks

Do you mean the MY in vehicle coordinates stiffness (ie the stiffness about the rotational axis?)

To the accuracy you need, 300 N/mm at the contact patch, with an slr of 250mm, is my guess.

However pacejka "tire and vehicle dynamics" 9.4.2 is probably more what you need, it shows modes at 30 to 100 hz.

Cheers

Thanks Greg. That's exactly what I needed.
