I am currently designing a two-way slab supported by steel beams and/or walls, which is only continuous in one direction. The CSA code provides a method for designing rectangular two-way slab systems with stiff supports on four sides, but the criteria for determining whether a support is 'stiff' is for concrete beams, not steel. Any suggestions on how I can relate these concrete beam stiffness requirements to steel beams to be able to use this simplified design method?
