Hi all forumers!

Could anyone of you who have significant experience in designing propellers for tugboats/trawlers suggest me some good comprehensive reference books/articles in this field ? I'm a newbie in this area.

This is not my field at all, but I know that an earlier collague of mine did some research on a tugboat propeller with ducted tip. His research is published in

Hordnes, I. and Green, S.I., “The Ducted Tip Propeller”, ASME Fluids Engineering Conference, Vancouver, June 1997 (15 pages).

and

Hordnes, I., and Green, S.I., “Sea Trials of the Ducted Tip Propeller,” ASME Journal of Fluids Engineering, Vol. 120(4), pp. 808-817, December 1998

I think Prof. Green at the UBC has done quite a lot of research in this area.

Try "Propeller Handbook" by Dave Gerr. I find it to be a very valuable reference.

Dear CYI,

Contact Mr. Emory Toups of Toups Propellers in Abbeville, Louisiana, USA.

He has sold and rebuilt more propellers for crew boats, tug boats and work boats on the US Gulf Coast then any other propeller shop.

He is the best in the business. That is why he is Michigan Propellers number 1 dealer.

His phone number is: (337) 893-5785
