I have a small project where I need to attach a steel roof access ladder along the exterior of a 2 storey brick clad wall. The building is a wood framed structure and the drawings show 2x4's @ 16's at the location where I need to install the ladder. I was thinking of using stainless steel threaded rods through the entire wall assembly..on the inside put a 1/4" steel plate spanning 3 studs bolted into the studs and the threaded rods get bolted to the steel plate. Additional steel plate supports will be added to the top and bottom header/sill studs for further reinforcement. Anyone here ever have a similar situation as this? I want to make as much less of a mess as possible on the inside of units but I can't see how with wood framing?

I would suggest using a ladder strong enough so that you only have to support it at the bottom and brace it at the top.
