Has anyone tried to cut 1 1/2'' carbon on a 5k Trumpf ?

yes and it is possible but very poor edge quality and not worth the hassle. doesnt even cut well on a 6kw tanaka. i would use a plasma

Thanks, have you ever tried to cut 1.25 carbon? Do you have trouble cutting carbons from 3/4 to 1 inch?

it all depends on how much time you can afford to put into a part. dont get me wrong the machines will cut the parts you just have to have time to make the changes needed in the tech tables and from a production stand point it takes to long job shop type applications it is definitely worth the time
