Trouble saving as .ai

Ok so I deal with alot of company logos and am having issues saving out as a .ai file. I need to be able to modify an existing logo, save it as an .ai and have it be able to be cut from that. Everytime I do a file> save as> .ai I end up with a crap ton of straight lines with like 10% of them completely missing. I'm on SolidWorks 2009 SP5.0 Any ideas?
