Dear all,

Is it necessary to use transverse shear stiffness whenever using shell section card? I can see that most of examples do not include.

Do the k values in transverse shear stiffness correspond to the material's young's modulus? If not, how can i calculate it?

By the way, Im using S4R and SC8R.

Regards,
Minki

Depends what you are modeling. For an isotropic metal plate, transverse shear flexibility is usually negligible. For a composite sandwich panel, transverse shear flexibility is usually significant. The K factor is probably the transverse shear shape factor, which is a function of geometry and material properties (see Roark)
