Transmitters/limit switches

I've got a question which may sound crazy. We have a specification that asks for all transmitters to be powered by 240v and also all limit switches are to have a 240v power supply. Is it just me or does this not seem right?

What sort of equipment are you controlling? Are you sure that the spec is not simply telling you what primary voltage to use with your control transformer?

We are supplying an actuator for a damper and a lube oil skid for a fan. The actuator will receive and send signals via profibus and the lube oil skid will have instrumentation. With the actuator using profibus we can ignore that part of the spec correct? I think the spec is wrong but just wanting to make sure.

Is it possible that they are really asking that the contacts provided on the limit switch be rated for switching up to 240 V ac? The switch contact ratings often get confused with power supply and other voltage specifications.
