Why is the total longitudinal reinf. of a beam reported by Etabs not equivalent to
the summation of longitudinal reinf. due to shear + torsion + flexure
Individually it gave me
Flexure = 7362mm²
Shear = 6580mm² and
Torsion = 215mm²
----Total = 14157mm²

but a Total of 14862mm² (off by 705mm²)
(Design code is Eurocode 2)

perhaps some of the reinf is used for multiple loading conditions.

It would depend where the reinforcement is being checked in the spans.

Longitudinal reinforcement for shear does not have to be added to the reinforcement required for flexure are the critical peak moment locations.

@SWComposites the software is not showing the maximum value of torsional long. reinf. out of all the the load combinations and is only showing me at the maximum flexural reinforcement thats why. (But in the total longitudinal rebar it takes the maximum).

@rapt
do you mean i don't need the shear long. rebars as long as it is under the flexural reinf.?or
