We are new (couple of months) in SW, three engineers using SW2007 Network, no PDM.

After reading what is available, we decided not to use Toolbox except as a parts configuration tool. We use Toolbox to create a part model, but then treat the result as a separate .sldprt drawing to be reused as necessary. We use our part number (10 digits, non-intelligent) as the filename.

The problem...When we insert one of these parts in a model, our part number shows up in the Feature Manager tree. Fine so far. When we put a BOM into a drawing, though, the original Toolbox name for the part is in the Part Number field. Nothing I have found allows the user to change this.

Does anyone know what is driving this and how to change it?

thanx

Click on the configuration tab at the top of the feature manager tree and change what to show in the BOM to part name. I believe that's what it's called, anyway.

I spent a long time looking in the wrong places for that. Thanks much!
