Hi all,

I'm looking at concentration a water wet toluene solution by distillation. I have about 1500L of toluene which I need to get down to about 100L. I understand the solubility of water in toluene to only be about 0.03% w/w (my toluene will be saturated with water) but I'm looking to do a constant volume distillation so would like a Txy curve to work with? Any idea how I might get this for my system?

Tons of posts after the answer was given: the OP wants to boil off 1400 L of toluene and, by their own answer to that question- doesn't care about the water as a contaminant etc. The OP therefore doesn't need to concern themselves with the water, because it will steam distill off with the toluene as it evaporates.

The system can be considered a mixture of involatile solute and pure toluene. No simulator is required- you can do the required calculations knowing nothing more than the vapour pressure of toluene with respect to temperature.
