Tolerances

Everything has a tolerance! Does anyone know the tolerances for setting out, forgetting instrument tolerancaes or fabrication and material tolerances, what is the legal standard?
we all do similar jobs, we should know.

I think that you will need to be a bit more explicit on individual topics. For instance, the tolerance for setting for a bearing pad under a beam is much different (and more precise) than the tolerance of setting out for base course pavement placement. Setting tolerances of expansion joints is more stringent than tolerance levels on concrete kerbs - or on plumbness of driven piles.

Ok, yes maybe should have been more specific.
I am at this moment working with vaious different materials wich all have british standards for tolerances, i however have been given a design and layout that does not allow for tollerances, im arguing the case that there is no such thing as zero tolerance as we know, im in the sitution sadly that 5 mm on brickwork is making a visible difference, id like to get hold of the b.s regs for measurement or the relevants ISO, im covering myself.
can you help
