Hello,
Would somebody have a way of calculating the TNT (level of explosion) of a substance?
Say I have 100 lb of ammonia, if released, how much of an area would be affected? Is there a way of calculating this?
Thank you!

The Wikipedia article describes calculating energy from the decomposition of the explosive substance to the gaseous species that would then in turn do work on the surroundings; it also makes reference to relative strengths of various substances and I think ammonia would be studied enough that there should be literature on this.

Hope this sets you on the right path.

jari001, many thanks for the link. It was very helpful.
