TML stickers

I am not sure where to post this.

But do you guys think TML stickers are worth the effort? I have problems reconciling various years of UT readings (latter years thickness seems incredibly thicker that older years).

API 570 speaks about "scanning".

Hansac,

We use various metons from paint stick to stickers to metal dymo labels, all are fine. The key is repeatability.

We scan and record the average and minimum thicknesses.
We always give the technicians the previous readings and ask them to interpret their findings by adding note. (Pitting, external corrosion, CUI, etc.)

Growing metal is always a problem and there are many variables which cause it. By giving thae techs as much info as possible we get better, more reliable results.

In the old days we had TML (code or ID) stenciled on the pipes. Today, we are using stickers and previous stenciled marks are still visible.

I've seen reports from API 570 cert inspectors reporting negative corrosion rates????
