I was curious to determine what material are the majority of OEM "rubber" tie rod or CV boots made of. Is it CR/neoprene or another material all together.
I am quite out of date, but 15 years ago there was a trend toward thermoplastic polyester block co-polymer elastomer. Popular trade names where Hytrel and Arnitel. They might now quite likely be Santoprene type products or thermosets. I do not know the specific types of rubber they might be if they are thermoset.

I used to (1995-2000)work for a CV joint manufacturer and Hytrel was the standard material for boots, having replaced Neoprene. We had looked at Santoprene, but stuck with Hytrel. Can't help you on tie rod boots.
