Hello all,
I have been plagued by this annoyance for some time now and am finally sick enough of it to ask for assistance. When I go to open a file in SW and turn on the thumbnail view, some assembly thumbnails are just empty, blank, and white while others show just fine. Anyone know why this happens and how to fix it?

Thanks,
BB

Does opening the blank-icon files, saving and closing not fix the problem?

BB,

Perchance are some of these blank previews files generated from imported solids? We have had many cases where solids made in another system were not anywhere close to the origin and had not been opened and centered on the view space before saving.

Regardless of how these files came about try opening the parts in question, hit the "f" key to zoom to center the part and then save it. This should save that view of the part as the icon and preview image.

Hi Updraft,

I did try your suggestions and no luck.

One of the assy files is an imported one but the others are assembly files consisting of parts created by me from scratch in SW.

Thanks,
BB

Try a ctrl-q rebuild, then save and see if that works.

Need to force SW to refresh the image it embeds in the file.

Not sure of a sure fire technique to make that happen.

Cheers,
