Am looking for freeware or shareware that will let me calculate Mjor, Minor & Pitch diameters of Stub Acme threads without having to do it by brute force out of my Machinery's Handbook..

I once had a cool program (DOS based) that would provide all the above and more information (Shear Area, Tolerances etc) on almost any thread type..It was called Threads.Exe..

Anyone have any idea if there is anything like this around?

I have a freeware Windows program that might help - but not for Stub Acme.

Has extensive dimensional data for:

UNC, UNF, UNEF, UNJ, NPT, ACME, ISO

at
search for "ME Threads"

I have an Excel program used primarily in machine shops for the cutting of threads, Acme, Stub Acme and Unified National. The program handles all classifications, thus handshaking appropriate tolerances to user input.

Originally written in DOS, then FORTRANMS (why not? are we all engineers?), BASIC and finally submitting to the MicroSoft Corporation by translating this into Excel spreadsheet with VisualBasic macro in the background, this fourth generation program is offered to the general engineering public, not Fine Arts majors or Agricultural types bent on animal husbandry, at no charge.

Slip me your e-mail address to "kenny.hueston@nuflotech.com" and I will sent you the appropriate attachment. One thing to note, the program is password protected, various header statements automatically default to the this author under "Sturni-Hueston Engineering Inc".

...and along the windy road in engineering, we are all humbled by nature, so don't forget to help a colleague or other humbled citizen in your future.
