I’m trying to apply a pressure load to a quarter of an aircraft fuselage to materialise the pressurisation of the cabin. I’m expecting the deformed shaped to be a scaled up version of the cylindrical shape of the fuselage .
I’m using typical fuselage dimensions : 4500 mm radius, and 2 mm shell thickness. The BCs are defined so that they allow for the symmetrical conditions.
Unfortunately the results I’m getting are rather strange. The shape is not really cylindrical.
I tried to refine the mesh without any success.
So I decided to double the thickness of the shell elements which proved to be a good idea because the results were better.
So I’m wondering why I can’t obtain correct results with a thin shell elements ?
Any help would be much appreciated.
